Niramaya Project: Integrated Child and Adolescent Development
Action project was initiated from April, 2017 under Arogya Mitra with the support of
Infosys Foundation, which provides free health and education services to ensure practice of
healthy lifestyle practice and treatment in villages. Niramaya covers 200 villages of 18
Districts in Assam and 40 community Field Officers are working in different district of
Assam.
ESSENCE OF NIRAMAYA
Niramaya project originated with the aim of Ensuring Better Health and Education Service
Facilities to the Child and Adolescent of rural places in Assam. The objectives are as
follows:
a) To establish, promote, support, assist, and conduct free health and education service
facilities to the unreached section of the society.
b) To ensure delivery of healthy lifestyle practice and treatment in an innovative
manner.
c) To build a development model primarily focusing on health and education, for
children and adolescents in villages.
d) To build a sustainable framework by proper use of updated technology for
community development.
e) To screen and identify health issues through medical camps in the communities.
f) To raise awareness on health, skill development, livelihood, and social issues,
focusing mainly on mother and child’s health.
g) To improve life skills of children through character building, personality
development, and basic science concepts.
h) To enhance physical and mental health of adolescents, of the community, through
self-awareness program ‘Atmabhaan’.
To accomplish the objectives of Niramaya, Community- based intervention is followed to
have Niramaya provide maximum benefit to the villagers
Niramaya Project Implementation & Management: A team of dedicated Community
Field Officers (CFOs) who were previously engaged in Arogya Mitra project working
selflessly for social upliftment were engaged in Niramaya Project. Besides, these CFOs, 600
Village Volunteers were also selected from villages for implementation of Niramaya
programmes, those were willing to work voluntarily for these social cause. Further, in the
project management unit also comprises of project manager, project coordinator, Technical
assistant who are managing and monitoring all the work of Niramaya at the field level.
As the PRA and Baseline Survey was conducted in last financial year, this year 2018-19
other component of the project was carried out such as Health Screening of Child and
Adolescent and Health and Life Skill Education programme at villages organized along with
Training of Trainers programme.
Content Development
The following content was developed for Niramaya programmes and activities:

HEALTH SCREENING:
Health Screening was one of the important parts of community intervention aspects of
Niramaya project covering all the children and Adolescents. Health screening survey done by
Health Screening Questionnaires form. In the form questionnaires are made to identify health
status of selected villages and to identify health status of each child and adolescent of the
community. Questionnaires consist of questions related to Nutrition deficiency (MUAC,
BMI) and other Deficiencies, Birth defect, Diseases, Developmental Delay and Adolescent
problems. The questionnaires responses filled by direct observation and Testing of some
parameter by medical equipments. A Health Card containing health information was given
to every children and adolescents of villages after Heath Screening.
